LMT lists a Monolithic Rail Platform (regular full sized length) and a Close Quarter Battle MRP.

Is the CQB the best for CQB or am I missing something?

Also, I keep seeing all these ARs with this new fad of full length rails on 16" and shorter barrels. They look cool, but are they really functional? Do you give up any handiness or speed with them?

Would a 16" barrel fit alright under a full size MRP or is this just a non-MRP AR thing?

The 16 fits fine in either. For CQB the shorter one would be lighter though, and thats what I would go with. If you want to use a bipod or lots of accessories the long rail may be for you.

The longer length only adds a couple of ounces, so you don't give up any 'handiness' until you fill the all the rails with stuff. Plus, the longer rail protects you from more of the really hot barrel when you do a transition. I like it.
