First off I would like to give a HUGE thanks to Gene Swanson, Technical Specialist at Lewis Machine and Tool Co. Often times service ends up being the most important part about buying a product esp. if you have a problem. I must say at LMT customer service is top notch to say the very least. I had a small issue nothing big, but Gene made me feel like the most important thing he had to do was figure out how to solve my problem. Well needless to say he and LMT resolved it very, very quickly, and at no cost to me!

Once I received my new upper I attached it to my old RRA govt lower threw it in it's case, and tossed the rest of my guns in the truck, and packed my four wheeler, and was off. I was headed to Bronson Texas just northeast of Jasper Texas to go hunting for wild boars.

I had gotten a late start, and did not get to Bronson until about 1:00am. As soon as I was there I popped up my pop-up camper, and got my four wheeler ready I was off on the hunt.

At this point in time I had not even fired my new MRP. That night I did not even get the chance, but there was tom. I got an early start the next morning, and went out with my best friend Dru who is a LEO/SWAT. We decided to go ahead and sight in our rifles. He was shooting a very low # colt M16 w/pencil barrel and all. I had a RRA Govt model, and my LMT MRP.

We took turns shooting each others rifles etc, and getting everything zeroed in. After shooting the MRP, both Dru and myself knew we had just shot the best performing weapon we had ever seen. The MRP fired smooth, and very clean, and did not even feel like it had recoil, simply amazing. After a while shooting I put my RRA Govt model up, and it was not taken out again on the trip.

After both being completely stunned at the MRP's god like performance, we began to put it through its paces just to see. This was the most fun shooting I have had in a very long time. We switched lowers, we switched BCGs, we took the barrel off/on. It just performed over, and over perfectly without one malfunction!!! Here is the really crazy part; I did 3 clips worth of mag dumps, and then put my finger on the BCG, and it was ambient, it was amazing!!! Hands down the finest rifle either of us had ever fired.

We put over 1,200 rounds through it without cleaning, and without a single malfunction!!!!!! I only have two AR-15s the LMT MRP, and the RRA Govt model. Before I bought the AR-15s I only bought H&K rifles, and have an HK91, and an old G3, and a few bolt action rifles of theirs. I really try to only own the best in firearms, and let me tell you my LMT is BETTER THAN ANY HK I HAVE OWNED OR SHOT!!!! I'm selling my RRA Govt Model, and I'm going to buy an LMT MRP in every caliber with and extra barrel for each, and who knows I may buy even more!

Thanks LMT your great I love your products, and service, LMT has the best products I have ever been exposed to. My buddy Dru is also going to pick one up. Quote from Dru " My God this thing is crazy, It has the recoil of a paint ball gun, and the accuracy of a sniper rifle."

Thomas

WoW!!! Now you are going to spend a bunch of money. I sure like my little plain jane LM&T Defender 2000 I did get to hold a full MRP rifle at and firearm stores yearly open house here two years ago and it really was a cool rifle. But with my limited funds I bought a Std. LM&T AR. Give us more details as you get more parts.

I have shot several MRPs. They are no different than any other AR other than the rail/receiver being one piece and having a different barrel extension/attachment to the upper. You can not do 3 mag dumps and have an ambient temp bolt carrier. Its just not possible. Its still a DI weapon using the same bolt and carrier, etc.

Did you gt an LMT piston or just an MRP? If its just a DI MRP I have to raise the flag.

I can't explain it either I can try to take a video next time I'm out. I do have pictures of a lot of the trip I'll post up when I get home. The barrel was very hot etc., but the bolt it's self was not hot??? I don't really have an explanation myself, but that is what happened.

Parts list

LMT CQB MRP upper with 16" barrel
Bravo Company ION Bonded BCG from Denny's
Other BCGs used Colt M16 BCG, RRA BCG
Lower is RRA Govt Model which came with an H-Buffer it's a pretty nice lower
Other lowers used colt M16 lower circa 1960s converted to semi/safe only, LMT Defender Lower

If you want to know any other parts just ask.

Update I just ordered another LMT Defender lower, and a complete CQB MRP w/enhanced BCG we'll have to see how that bad boy works.

Also if anyone knows of a good low magnification night scope, or thermal viewer please let me know. I have looked at the FLIRs, but 10k is a little much. I would like to not go above the 3k range, but want to get the best I can in that price range. Hog hunting is my favorite thing to do, but seeing in the pitch black is difficult. I have a pair of thermal monoculars, but they are bulky and cumbersome.

+1, I agree. I own an MRP and agree that it is one of the best ARs made, but DI is DI, and hot gas gets dumped into the carrier. It's gonna get hot. I hope you're talking about the new piston MRP upper, in which case, the carrier should remain cool.

That's what I did, it was cool to the touch. I'm not sure why, but that was the result. If you have had different results I don't know what to tell you. Say what you want, but I fired the gun touched the bolt, and that was the result, I do not know why as I stated in my original post. Like I also said I'll try it again the next time I'm out video it, and see if the results are the same or if that was a one time fluke.
