How does this look on handguards and collapsable stocks?  Does it hold up well, or chip like paint?

Polane would seem to be a good choice? That is what some are repackaging and selling as "Uber Coatings" -- I know it is very tough on plastics and a good choice if you can not use a heat or chemically cured system.

In my experience Krylon Fusion doesn't "fuse" to AR handguards at all.  My job came out very glossy, which I didn't like.  The paint came off just fine with mineral spirits, a stiff brush and a fair helping of elbow grease.
