Was just at the local gunsmith shop and I noticed they just got in a few of those KA carbine handguards (that are ever so fashionable at this time!). I just ordered the First Samco M33S for my M-4 but I liked the way the KA's felt and looked. They wanted $370!! Is it really worth it? I mean I do not plan on mounting anything on the sides (mainly on the bottom). What are your thoughts on this system?

Also they had a neat Eagle Arms "pimped out" M-4 pre-ban there. It had the works, KA handguards, Aimpoint with A.R.M.S. mounting, rear flip up, collapsable stock, KA vertical grip, Insight Technology M-6 (which i thought was pretty neat. I didn't know you could use this on a rifle).

Anyway any opinions on the KA's vs. the First Samco, if there is any comparision at all.....

That shop is overpriced BIG TIME. As for the KAC v. First Samco...KAC, without doubt.

go for the KA grip. there alot lighter than the Knight handguards. plus you will get added cooling and stability from free floating the barrel.

A local shop has to charge more for its overhead, an Internet based business without a show room, space rent and pay roll has more room in pricing. In my experience if the local stores are helpful and don't treat me like an idiot, I'd pay more just to contribute to local economy and keep them afloat. Sadly they mostly are unhelpful and treat me like an idiot, so I take my business to Wes and Paul at MSTN that treat me like the most important client they got. Here's my pimped out M4gery, most components were purchased from Wes [:d]

I thought that was steep in the price but the guy was like, "$370 out the door..." like it was a deal or something. I've seen them on the 'net for at least $40 cheaper but that's w/o shipping. Although they look cool and all, I don't think I'd ever put those rails to good use. My passion right now is the Surefire M900A (which I'll address in lights/optics section). I'd slap one of those on my "crappy" (as the guy said) Samco M33s. Aw well... those pics are awesome, making me feel jealous now....

MSTN had a sale and I got the FF RAS from them for $325. I have seen the FF RAS go for as little as $300 delivered in the EE and I have seen the regular RAS go for $275 delivered. I got my M900A for $418 delivered. It really pays to shop around. I always get a killer deal but it usually means you have to be patient and wait.
