Kerry won't get elected. He can't reinstate the ban even if he did. The ban is DEAD! They would have to write a new one.

no he won't.
He'll sign an entirely new one which will probably be much more restrictive.

In any case it's congress and the senate who would decide on a new ban, not the president or his cabinet. they can push for it, but they can't force it if the senate and house don't agree. All they can do is Veto. They can't pass a law like that by executive order.

So the senate and house races will be much more important than who becomes president in this respect.


Don't forget; Bush  said he would sign the ban renewal, it's Tom Delay(R) who you can thank for the ban sunsetting, and having the guts to stand up and say the law was worthless.  

IMO even though the president knew full well his house reps wouldn't let it get to his desk, saying that he "would sign it if it got to his desk"  gave the law undue credibility that did not help further our rights.

I would have had more respect for Dubya had he had the balls to reject it out of hand instead of playing stupid political games. But then he just says what Dick and Carl tell him to say.

It's a real shame a second republican candidate can't run against a standing president, or that you can't vote for the standing vice president as president and vice versa.

yeah, i agree that i don't really like what Bush said with regards to the assault weapons ban, at the same time if he had said that it was pointless he possibly would have lost the majority of his women vote right then and there.  politics= yuck.

If Kerry gets elected expect him, along with the Brady Bunch and all the other anti-constitutional types to take a different approach.  I expect they will go after ammo.  They will either try and ban ammo or place huge taxes on it.  

The only time sKerry went back to Washington to vote while on the campaign trail, was to vote for the renewel of the AWB. The only time!!! What does that tell you?

If anyone has any doubts about what Kerry will do, look at his voting record in the Senate.  He voted for every piece of Brady Bunch legislation and voted against every piece of pro-2nd Amendment bill.  Hell, like bfieldburt said, he flew to DC during his campain to vote to extend the AWB but he couldn't be bothered to come back to listen to the security briefings.

If everybody on this board and everybody like us get's off their ass and votes Kerry will just be a fading memory.

What?  Thats exactly what Bush 1 did in 1989 in the original AWB that still stands, will not sunset or be repealed.  You can friggen go to war on an executive order, you can declare martial law by executive order.

George Soros, Kerry's biggest supporter is a philanthropist billionaire who has made it his lifes work to have the UN world wide gun ban extended to America.  George Soros is the creater and funder of Moveon.org and a slew other 527's who's sole goal is to unseat Bush and push his UN objectives.  Am I a conspiracy theorist?  Nope, just look at Kerry and Soros' positions.  They say it better than I ever could.

IMO if the guns is a motivating factor in who you vote for, you are a MORON of massive proportions to vote for Kerry.  BTW, Kerry has used the fact that the Repubs allowed the ban to sunset as campaign point.  He says Bush made it easier for terrorist to get deadly assault weapons.
