Its even easier than that.

ooooooo now that's nice!

Okay, as to the questions about where I got everything --

Upper/BCG/CH -> Del-Ton
Buttstock Kit -> Del-Ton
Receiver -> RRA (Local FFL)
LPK -> Brownells

Hint: Working for an FFL definitely helps

Bah!!

A mad sailor on shore leave!!

Got a Bushmaster 20" A3 upper with BCG and CH for $310 shipped.

Have another complete carbine upper which just may be a BM enroute for $310 shipped.

Wondering about the $44 LPK, too low and you go Chinese.

I even question the $50 DPMS set, Standing by the CMT kit that GTS provides with free shipping for $68, making it the same cost as CMMG's with shipping.

50 bucks is very doable for a telestock assembly in RRA or CMT and A2 stocks at 35 bucks shipped.

I'm eyeing the EA lowers as well.

My 20" A3 will come in at $504 to include shipping on the EA and a FFL transfer, at $480 if I can get the lower local.

The carbine will be $519 with shipped EA, $495 if locally procurred.

The holy grail is to get BM lowers at about 200 bucks with LPK and stock.

I  built an SP1 type rifle for around $300. But i most likely could not do it again.
And it was from used parts all used excepet the lower recivier and LPK.

I seem to be having success with getting gently used, a little more than test fire and break in round counts.

How do you get free shipping?

I kept this beauty under $500.

M16A1 projects are the key to high quality, low cost builds.
CMMG LPK
Stag Lower
Colt for the rest.
Total cost $596

Mine initially cost <$520 before I customized it.

I got the kit from www.akpartskits.com $389
The lower from Steve Winstead on Gunbroker.com $105.50
The a mag from www.copesdist.com. $18 (I already had mags which I didn't have to pay for)

I replaced the forend furniture with cheaperthandirt's quadrail (for airsoft).
Threw on a Barska red dot from Cabelas.
Despite originally thinking I would use telescopic sights I got a removable carry handle (honestly don't remember where).
An airsoft grippod from eBay
A $5 LED light from 7/11 and mounted it to the quadrail using an old weaver ring I had sitting around.

Now it looks mean and nasty, but did not cost me as much as a standard RockRiver from the best priced dealer here.

The rest of it came yesterday, and has since been assembled!  No pictures - yet.  Let me get home from work, first.

Specs:

- 16" Heavy Barrel with Chrome-lined bore and 5.56 NATO chamber @ 1/9 twist rate
- A2 Flash Hider
- A2 Front Sight Post
- Carbine length, "standard" handguards
- A3 Flat-Top upper receiver with T-marks
- Forward Assist Assembly
- 6 Position Collapsible Buttstock
- DPMS Lower Parts Kit
- Rock River Arms Lower Receiver

So, in other words, my Franken-Rifle is a mix of Del-Ton (complete upper & buttstock), Rock River Arms (receiver), and DPMS (LPK).

(The $596 cost does not include the cost of magazines, sling, ammo or EOTech)

that would definately work for me, Im doing a college student build (sacrificing food for guns, my taste buds are going to hate me, haha) Im looking at a 20" a2 style kit. the best deal Ive found on a lower is $85 shipped for a superior (and $25 for the FFL fee), as for the rest Im keeping my eyes out. Any tips to finding a good deal on a 20"? Besides the EE, I look there a few times a day
