I have a feeling that I am going to take a beating on this post. Anyway, I am looking to get a high end DI rifle and have narrowed it down to the KAC SR15 mod2 and the LWRC Di. I doubt that it matters between the two rifles however, I plan to use it with a SilencerCo Omega can after my stamp comes back. Just looking for some opinions between these two rifles. Thanks in advance.

Stoner Rifle.

Not sure what LWRC brings to the table in terms of advancing the AR-15 design but I will say that KAC is one that I consider to be innovative if that makes a difference.

I'd go with the SR-15

I have a fair amount of Knight's gear, and nothing from LWRC. That being said, I actually like LWRC's lower more than the KAC. Having the bolt hold open and release on the right side is an advantage over just being able to drop the bolt.

Aside from the religious fervor associated with the brands mentioned, I doubt you'll notice much of a performance difference between those two rifles.  Maybe comes down to a decent price difference...or...got a coin?

Heavier rifles that is what they bring.

KAC, hands down.

KAC or bust
Link Posted: 2/19/2016 2:40:39 PM EDT
I'll say what pretty much everyone told me on here when I was deciding "KAC vs brandX"....

If you have the money to spend, GET A KAC!  I followed that advice and I haven't regretted it yet. I also paid full retail for my mod 2. You can get it for under 2k now. It's a no-brainer...KAC all day.
Link Posted: 2/19/2016 4:55:33 PM EDT
Have you ever shot a KAC?  I'd ask you if you ever shot an LWRC DI gun, but if you've shot any other AR, you've shot the LWRC DI.

I'll ask you again, have you ever shot a KAC?  People on here who bash KAC for proprietary parts and high price tag more than likely haven't fired one.

If KAC is part of the question, it's always the answer.

Proprietary parts don't matter if they never fail.

Link Posted: 2/19/2016 5:00:33 PM EDT
I have not shot either the KAC or LWRC DI.  I own 3 LWRCs piston guns.  Not sure how the LWRC DI  system stacks up against other manufacturers of the same quality.  I have yet to see anything negative about KAC at all.  I've held a KAC and it is a nice weapon.  Quality build.  If you have the chance to hold both, I suggest you do and you'll see which one feels better in your hands.
Link Posted: 2/19/2016 9:34:50 PM EDT
Thanks for all the feedback guys.

I am going to my local dealer tomorrow. He stocks both LWRC and KAC. I had a LWRC piston gun and I really liked the lower a lot. I just couldn't justify the added weight of the piston system for the advantages that it offered. Well that and it had a pinned FH that I was afraid to have cut off so I sold the gun. I have heard nothing but good about the KAC SR15 so that is what prompted the decision between these two. I would say I am leaning pretty heavily toward the KAC at this point. I am anxious to see them side by side tomorrow.

Are you sure you're not thinking of the piston LWRC models?  They are heavier than most DI rifles.  Their new DI line is basically what most other good DI rifles weigh.  I have an LWRC M6A2-S piston model, and it is heavier.  Unless the price difference is way, way out of whack to where it might make a fiscal issue for the OP, you can't get hurt with either rifle.  KAC is good stuff.

OP, did I miss any pricing info on these two rifles?

Mod2.

If your holdup is between the ambi bolt catch or the right side bolt release, consider a Mod2 upper by itself and get one of the ambidextrous LWRC, Falkor, or ADM UIC lowers.

My SR-15 E3 upper on an ADM UIC Duty lower with KAC trigger and ambi-sling endplate:

Alternatively, the new LMT MARS has a right side bolt catch as well, and all you'd "need" to do is put a good trigger in it.

It looks very SR-15ish.

The LWRC Di is $1500 + Tax for just the rifle and the standard accessories (AFG and grip panels) NO SIGHTS. The KAC SR15 Mod 2 is $2000 + Tax for the rifle, case, and 3 PMAGs, The KAC comes with their BUIS.

I have a lwrc and really enjoy it. Never shot a KAC so can't compare. What are the prices like between the two? I they are fairly close do what the other guy said, go hold one and see which feels better. Can't go wrong with either though.

You can get the LWRC for $1,400 if you look hard, so the prices are pretty different.

if you happen to be anywhere close to the fort myers/naples area you're more than welcome to take my mod 2 for a spin and see if you want to go down that path.  This goes for anyone actually

I'll put out the same offer for anyone in Eastern Washington that hasn't had the pleasure of shooting a KAC SR-15 Mod 2. Hit me up, we will go to the range together and I'll make a believer out of you!

KAC will have the best resale value of any civilian AR15 out there. And KAC is the best, IMO

I just wanted to thank everyone for the input. I ended up getting the KAC this morning. They didn't have an LWRC Di gun to compare it to but I took the piston and op rod out of one to get a closer feel between the two. The Knights felt way better balanced. I still like the LWRC and might get one down the road but the KAC won out this time.

Here she is with my BCM.

When my wife and I were on our honeymoon last year, we went to Kalispell and Whitefish and Glacier National Park up in Montana.  While we were driving down into Kalispell one day, she mentioned a building with a gun on it, and when we were headed that way again the following day, we stopped in and spoke to the VP of sales at SI-Defense, which is also Falkor.  I got to handle one of their guns with the Proof Research barrel and Fortis Switch rail and I can say confidently that I will have one of their receiver sets also.  It was a very nice gun for sure.
