I just installed my M5 RAS forend last night and noticed that the panels have a bit of fore-aft play.  Is this movement typical of the KAC panels and/or all panels in general?  It's a bit disappointing.

Note: these were the 11 rib panels and are molded with:

KNIGHT'S ARMAMENT
VERO BEACH, FL

The shorter panels in the kit don't have the "Vero Beach" molded into them.

I had the same problem with mine so I decided to ditch them and went with the LMT (tangodown) pannels instead.  They work nicely have no play in them what so ever.

I have the M4 RIS on my M4gery and have the 6 rib panels to secure the rails and have absolutely no play in mine when they secure themselves in place with the locking pins.  Maybe you have older models or replica panels mine say vero beach but remember that KAC changed to titusville FL I believe it is.

You can adjust the tension on the spring clips at the end of those KAC panels. Careful not to over bend them. Do it in minute amounts till you feel no play in the panels. That was how I fixed one of my older panels....the new ones dont have that problem.  Mine are all from Vero Beach, FL. Hope that helps. You can always email them at their website www.knightarmco.com they will reply immdiately- sometimes harshly too I might add.

Ya I emailed them a question about my RIS on installing it and they got kinda nasty saying it was never meant for civilian use yadda yadda yadda.  They are like colt of the accessory world everyone wants there parts but they dont care for us to much.

You might try running a bead of black silicone down one side of the panels locking groove. I’ve done this in the past to tighten up KAC panels. Allow the silicone to dry overnight before installation.

Thanks to everyone for the replies--it's all good information.

I'll try increasing the spring tension first and if that doesn't help much I may go the silicone bead route.  It's also good to hear that there's a generational improvement in panel quality as well, so getting a new set altogether may be an option somewhere down the road.

As for emailing them, I'll pass.  I've read other accounts about their attitude toward the civilian market.
