The metal piece that has to two little springs on it?  Where the heck does it to?  Im not talking about the metal clamp that has the screw in it.

I put the lower part on without the metal piece in there but it sure is loose.

I asked the same question some time ago here is the thread.

Not mentioned in the instructions however.

It's used when attaching an M203 (you have one right?) and should slide under the front handguard retaining ring on the bottom before you put the lower piece of the M5 on.  Just look at the contour of it and match that to the barrel in that location.

Wait for QUIB to see this, he'll post instructions for you.

Good luck,
Scott

well thats what I figured and tried that but with it in there I cant get the delta ring to go down far enough to slip the m5 under it.. Im using a hand guard wrench but with the delta ring bottomed out it still wont go.

I figured out where it goes, up in the handguard cap.   The lower rail is still loose though.

It doesn't do anything for the lower guard.  It is for mounting the M203.

Did you loosen the small hex screw on the top portion of the RAS just forward of the delta ring before installing?  I missed that one important procedure and was banging away on mine thinking, "What a GD piece of crap this is!!!! Sure could use some instructions!!!"

Good luck,
Scott

There should be a KAC M5 sticky.

I went through the same confusion when I was building my A4.

Didn't Coldblue mention that units with that piece shouldn't actually be in civvi hands?  I think he said that it was only meant for military orders and were somehow "diverted"...
