Santa finally delivered this morning.
Colt 6920 w/ the Rogers stock.
Came with detachable carry handle, two 20rd mags, cleaning rod, and a cheesy ass nylon strap I assume is supposed to be the sling.

What kind of accuracy are you folks getting?

Favorite ammo?

What's your favorite sling for this one?

Pretty much standard 2 MOA. I like Prvi Partisan and IMI M855 62gr. My favorite sling is the Vickers Combat Applications 2 point sling. Here's my 6920 setup. And congrats on your new Pony!

I can keep all shots on a man sized AR500 plate silhouette target at 500 yards with irons. I'd say accuracy is good for a battle type rifle

Albeit, this was with a 14.5" Colt barrel, but i'm sure I could do the same with the Wife's 16" 6920 as well.

jcrowl, what's the difference between that Vicker's Combat Applications sling and the Vickers' BlueForce 2 point? Or, are they the same sling ??

Same sling, Vicker's Blue Force Gear.

Ok, well then I second this recommendation. I have one and LOVE it!! I will say I modded mine so the quick release is up by the handguard / rail, instead of by the butt stock.

Congrats on the 6920. It didn't take me long before I started replacing parts!

I went with the Viking Tactics 2 point sling on my set up and I'm very pleased with it! I've used PMC X-TAC which I believe is a Korean made equivalent to the M855 and no issues using that. I also shot Remington UMC .223 and some Wolf .223 both no issues either. I was shooting 50 yards out with mine standing and got 1-2" groups. I don't usually shoot from a bench rest so I'm far from reaching the rifle's maximum accuracy potential.

I was looking to purchase my first AR rifle and was debating between the Colt SP6920 or 6940.
Wondering how you got the rails on top and bottom of your forend? Do I buy a whole new fore-end?

Been reading throught the forums and it looks like I should try and get an older model without the Roger's stock based on everybody's opions.
I'm hoping Cabela's can order this for me so I can use my Cabela's point's up.

Thanks!

Just back from first range trip with the 6920.
Durn thing ran perfect! Zero malf's.
Shot very well too.
Slapped an ACOG on it. M855 ammo.
After initial sight in at 50yds, shot it all the way out to 300 meters.
Shot great!
I think I'm going to swap the forearm to a railed version.
Only two minor complaints: 1.) trigger could be better. 2.) Buffer tube only has 3 notches. I'd like one with more stock settings.

not my rifle but hope you dont mind me helping.

it is a quad rail that has carbine length covers on it. i can see how you may be looking at it like a standard carbine hand guard with rails on the top and bottom, though.

look at the 2 pics again first one shows the rail covers, and second shows the quad rail w/o covers on the other side.

The cheesy ass issue black nylon sling cause it fits over my IOTV or just a simple snap hook to the rear sling loop.  Hi speed shit is sometimes just eye candy.

The VTAC is my sling of choice also. They have an adapter available now that utilizes a QD for a quick one point configuration. Prior to the VTAC, I was using the Magpul MS2 but, after taking a few classes, I found the thin strap too uncomfortable for 10-12 hour days..

There are a variety of rail options available for the 6920. They have two piece drop in rails like the KAC RIS/RAS and even the Daniel Defense Rails FSP extended rails.

The 6940 is a Monolithic rail system and you're pretty much married to that rail if you choose to go that route. Either one would be considered good to go..

They are Knight's Armament rails (two piece). You just pull back the Delta ring and remove the stock handguards and slip in the KAC rails. As another poster noted, I have KAC rail covers on parts of the rails

My SP6920 which I got in March last year, my mods shown are:

KAC M4 RAS rails, KAC QD rail sling mount & KAC VFG
Aimpoint M2 with LaRue LT-129 cantilever QD mount
LMT fixed rear BUIS
Surefire M951 weaponlight
Vickers VCAS foliage green two point sling
Magpul PMAG

Congrats! Got pics

Do you have the SP or LE model?

I'm usually getting about 2" to 4" groupings at 100yd with 55gr/ 62gr military surplus ammo.

Take a look at the archives, member Molon did a test of precision loads and his best group if I'm not mistaken 1.3 MOA 10 shot groups at 100 yd.

I also tried the known good ammo like Hornady TAP 75gr and Black Hills 75gr-77gr and I'm getting between 1.5" to 2" @ 100yd, I could do better but my eyes are getting bad.

I like my Vickers sling but I also have a Viking Tactics two point sling which could be tightened more to the body and won't slip loose, I use my Viking sling when I'm travelling, climbing or using my hands.

I would recommend the Knight's Armament M4 RAS rails, look for good prices at the Equipment Exchange or get some factory seconds that don't look bad directly from the KAC website store.

Minus the price I paid for the 6920 right at the time his highness was elected (ALOT) KAC RAS rails cost me $100 used, Magpul CTR was about 90, AFG used was like 25, the Maid grip is what it is, VCAS was 50 or so plus the QD swivel I bought, First compM4 was like 550 used, sold it and got the ACOG. Paid $750 for the ACOG.

So on my 6920 I'm around a grand over the price I paid for the rifle initially. It's near how I'd like it to be. I will put a surefire light on it for duty, I'd like a better trigger, and I'm going to change sling mounting points and probably try a VTAC 2pt sling. along getting some Pmags..

So in the end I'll have someplace close to $3200 into the whole rifle I guess.

Right at about $2000 including the optic and shipping it to ADCO to switch barrels. I ended up paying a net of about $50 more for the new barrel after selling the stock 16" one. The rails, covers and vertical foregrip were about $140 on Ebay or gunbroker.
Equipment Exchange, great place for buying new and used everything AR related!
