Congradulations! Not to steal any thunder, but I just got my Second AR too! My first was one of Frank White's DCM guns. I bought it a couple years ago, to shoot in local Highpower matches. After Sep.11 the military range here at Camp Bullis closed to civilians, and that ended local matches as most ranges here can't accomodate them. Have to drive 200-300mi to shoot a match now. Recently I decided I wanted somthing lighweight, that I could plink at local ranges with, and use for pest control and small game from jackrabbits to coyote's and armadillo. Mabey even use as a pig gun. I looked around at AK clones, SKS's, lever actions, and pistol calibre carbines. Finally this weekend I was at the SAXET gunshow. I decided to pick up a new Rock River Arms lower with a great trigger job by a local smith who's earning a reputation for being good with AR's. Before I left, he talked me into a new light weight DPMS A2 16" carbine upper he had just built with a 1X9 twist barrel that had been turned down to a thinner than normal prifile. It's the lightest AR I've ever seen, without going to the synthetic recievers etc... Just seems to balance well and feel good in my hand. The whole rig only set me back $695.00 tax included, and he threw in a new chamber brush, Dewey rod, web sling, a couple USGI 20rnd magazines, and a miltiary armorers manual. I'm off tomarrow, I've got it all cleaned, and ready to go to the range. Tonight I dragged out the Dillon, and loaded up about 200rnds of mollied M-193's in front of 23gr of AA-2300. Plan on doing a 30-50rnd barrel break in, and sighting in, then doing some casual plinking on steel and some old produce, from about 59yds, out to the ranges 200yd limit. I'm all exited, I've been walking around the house with a dry fire device in it for two days now. Sure hope this little carbine turns out to be as fun as it looks! Wish me luck!
