I just finished this, my first paint project, sort of a Woodlandish MARPAT sort-of. Big Thanks to Cass at militarymorons.com for the advice.

Nice job, PFC_FMJ!!

curious........

Does a paint job like that impair any moving parts? (Ie. Foward assist, windage knob, mag release etc)?

All the moving parts are ok, it's really just a few light coats of flat enamel with a clear coat. The stock was a little stubborn to telescope. I taped off anything function critical (RSA, FSP, ejection port spring, wells, and muzzle. I plan to go back and do the handle and all the mags.

Are there pics anywhere of this type of paint job being done?...I'm just curious as to the steps...it looks painfully tedious.

Great job BTW!

I had a step by step posted about 9 months ago with pics. When hunt101.com went down my pics were lost.

I may do another in the future. Perhaps the text will help for now.

ETA: Here are some pics from an early one I did in MARPAT.

I didn't take any of the process, I got too antsy. It's basicly a base coat and lots of practice. I made a pattern from one at militarymorons.com and used it for all te colors. It was suprisingly easy. I think I will do the EOTech too with all the mags.
