Today, after weeks of waiting, I finally brought my baby home.

You'll have to forgive the phone pics, but i'm working out of town and that's all I've got!

Brand spankin' new DDM4 V7.

I initially had a 300 BLK version on hold, but after scouring the web and poking around at gunshows looking for ammo, I got cold feet and switched back to 5.56. I'll definitely be building an upper in 300 BLK at some point, but figured It'd start here.

Already, I've got a question. I field stripped the whole thing per the manual and reassembled. I noticed that I can not move the safety lever to 'safe' when the hammer is decocked. Since this is my first AR I don't know if this is normal or if i put something together incorrectly. I don't really see anything in the manual that would clear this up for me.

Thanks!

100% normal.  No worries.

Congrats on your purchase.

Nice looking stick.

The safety can only be applied when the hammer is cocked.

Disregard the safety issue. I see that it is by design.

I prefer Iron sights so I intend to go with the Troy fixed sights. The only other gobbley gook I want to bolt on is a light.

That's the main reason I switched from the V5 to the V7. I didn't need acres of rail space and wanted to cut weight. This seemed like a logical choice.

If  you don't know about the safety function,, you may want to read a little more about how your weapon operates so no one gets killed..

BTW the end with the hole faces forward...

NIce rifle though..

Thanks all, I knew I wanted a DD as soon as I found out they were made in GA. Gotta represent my fellow georgians. It helps that they make a hell of a gun as far as I can tell.

Sweet rifle be sure to test that rail out cause it gets pretty hot when shooting indoors bare handed, at least for me.
