I went ahead and bough a 16" standard A3 upper from steve at adco. Was $375 total. I hope I went with the right place.

That is a good price. Are you getting this as a second upper for and existing AR15? Or buying a lower next to make into an entire rifle (carbine actually)? I like the 16" length AR's, real handy package.

Just for as extra upper for now. When funds permit it shall become its own rifle.

If you bought it from ADCO, you have no worries. Let us know how much you like it.

Yep, that is how it starts allright! I am taking a detour this Fall to get an AR10 (the SEBR 20" rifle). The AR15 is such a neat package I figure the AR10 (in 308 Win) will be a great shooter as well. After the Holidays I have plans for an "extra Cavalry Arms Lower that I have. I want to build up a medium/light 20" 223 for a 'walking varmint rifle'. It will wear a 2-7x scope and no iron sights. Flat-top upper of course. This will be my first 20" barreled AR15, the rest are all 16" length.

Ya did good. Steve is a great guy in person in his store as well. He'll do what ever he can to make the customer happy and he literally pushes new toys towards you to play with.
