Hello guys,
I currently have a good old AR-15 HBAR with a fixed carry handle (no Picatinny rails) and an original Colt 3x20 optic which came with the rifle.

I'd like to move to a 4x scope. The Hakko 4x21 seemed to be popular in 2005-2007 (
for example here) but they are now out of business...Hakko were one of the producers of the original Colt optics like mine. By doing some research it appears that a bunch of ex-Hakko guys created a new company callled "
Japan Optics"
Japan Optics Ltd. (JOL) was established in June, 2005 with most of members from Hakko whose quality has been widely recognized in the industry throughout the world over the past 40 years. Therefore, we at Japan Optics still carry on the technical expertise and know-how that have long been accumulated during the Hakko time.

They have a series of
Short Scopes which damn well resemble the original Colt ones...

So I have 2 questions:
- Does anyone have such a Japan Optics scope?
- Am I stupid to want one, should I simply mount a scope rail on my carry handle?
Note that I don't really want any electronics and batteries in my scope...a good old 4x magnification will do if you have any suggestions. I'm looking at the Vortex ones now but still wondering about Japan Optics!
