OK ammo guru's. What is the gold jacket on the bullets in the 100rd .40S&W Winchester Value Pack at Walmart? I don't believe it's copper.

Thanks!

Joe

So, is it brass alloy over lead or steel? And, the next question, is it safe for the barrel or does it cause excessive wear? Thanks! Joe

it's brass over lead. it is the same kind of jacketed bullet that montana gold manufactures. they are great and it is all i shoot out of my glocks. MG will be making rifle bullets soon, so i'll be shooting them out of my AR.remington golden sabers are also made of the same metal. brass is 70 or 80% copper, i forget, but it will not harm your barrels at all. and since it is copper, clean up is easy with any copper solvent. shoot them and enjoy.

Is it just the bullet from S&B or the whole round? My box of ammo says manufactured by Olin in the USA. I haven't had a chance to use any of this stuff yet but I have about 8 boxes of it and pick it up whenever I see it. Pretty damn good value for 40S&W.
