I am looking at a JP barrel, block, and comp package.  It runs a bit pricey at $499.  Is it worth it or is there a less expensive alternative.

Depends on what you're planning to do with the JP, it is a very accurate barrel with hand loads.  Most of the guys I shoot with in 3-gun run with full JP rifles.  I wish I can afford one.
