Is it necessary to remove buffer retainer and spring when using the JP captured spring assembly or can you just leave it in?
Thanks!

I left mine in because without it the JP would extend out enough where I had to push the JP back to close the upper to the lower.  With it in the BCG is flush with the JP.

You might not have this problem though.

Left mine in. Only issue is taking it back out. A pick tool makes easy work of that problem.

It can be a bitch to get the JP out with the detent pin in place.

Jp says in or out it doesn't matter. Leaving it in makes it harder to remove. Taking it.out could lead to making it harder to close the receivers.

I open/close my receivers on a regular basis. I rarely remove the buffer/spring. That makes this an easy decision for me.

Yes it is. At first I tried leaving it in but now I remove all of them.
