What ever happened to the search for this picture??? There was an active thread about this a few months ago. I need to irritate my liberal, gunhating co workers with it

While I've not been able to locate an image of JFK shooting an AR, I do have this:

The pic above is actually an Internet-friendly resize of a large image, which is 5.4MB.  I can't post the large file now since I don't have enough bandwidth at work, but will do over the next few days when I have time and will reply in this thread with a link.

So people now think JFK, a veteran of WWII, was a bleeding-heart liberal gun-hater? That would surprise me if true.

I do not know how people think he was when he stated this:

By calling attention to 'a well regulated militia', the 'security' of the nation, and the right of each citizen 'to keep and bear arms', our founding fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny which gave rise to the Second Amendment will ever be a major danger to our nation, the Amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic civilian-military relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of his country. For that reason, I believe the Second Amendment will always be important." ---- Senator John F. Kennedy, April 1960

Also JFK had a M1 Garand from the DCM.

Didn't JFK start the civilian marksmanship program?  I dislike him for other reasons, but as I understand it JFK was a friend of the RKBA for the reasons the founding fathers intended.  However, I admit that I could be misinformed.

He did not start the DCM the DCM was started not long after WWI.  Some where I have a photo of FDR shooting a M1903 at Camp perry in the late 20s early 30s I will look for it.

John F Kennedy was a Life Member of the NRA, one of the people that believed in the second amendment.  I believe he was rolling over in his grave when the Congress passed the Gun Control Act of 1968 banning the mail order of firearms, that was so totally against his beliefs.

Kennedy would probably have been like Ronald Reagan, after Reagan was shot by Hinkley he was asked about gun control laws, he was still dead set against them, he had enough sense to know that gun control laws don't work.

Bill Clinton was the first President in the 20th Century that wasn't a member of the NRA!

He should have shot McNamara with it.

Most democrats of the past were far more conservative than the lefist, socialist, liberal posers of the current democratic party.  In fact, many were more conservative than many Republicans of today (Arnold for example).  Most were like Zell Miller. This is one of the reasons the demoncrats have lost the south.  In fact even the word "liberal" had a different meaning back in the day.

Ah wouldn't it be a great world without Carol Bradey and her goons?

There was a topic similar to this one about a year ago with a picture of JFK shooting a M16 off of a boat/ship IIRC.  I have seen it somewhere else too, I'll see if I can find it.

most people align "liberal" with democrats and "conservative" with republicans now days.  being democrat or republican is different than being a liberal or a conservative.  Arnold is an example of a liberal republican.
