Took the front sight block off an AR I've had for a while and see what looks like a plugged gas hole.
Dark spot in pic below, is exactly opposite the gas hole on the other side, like they drilled all the way through, then plugged one end.
Is this normal?

-> Its park through the gas hole drilling in the front site base.

Who the fuck made this barrel OP? Look at that forward taper pin hole, what a joke. If this was from the factory and not bubba'd I would burn the maker of this barrel here and let everyone know who made it...

I've never seen a gas port drilled all the way through. +1 on the front FSB pin hole. That looks like crap.

ETA, since the barrel wasn't parkerized before the FSB was installed, could the dot be the result of that? I.e. could parkerizing solution have entered the hole in the bottom of the FSB and made the dark dot that looks like a plug?

Maybe marks left by a set screw?

Whew... That looks terrible.

Post a pic of the front sight assembly including the inside. I bet it's not been drilled. Doesn't look like it to me.

That's it exactly, the front site base has a hole and park went through. Shoulda figured that....

As far as the rest, the holes are probably buggered because the front site has been off and on a few times.

Your barrel was simply parkerized after the front sight base was installed. Perfectly normal.

Treetop got this one right. Seen it many, many times. Relax, it's not an issue.
