Is this ok or do I need to get a washer? It's a Kaw Linear comp.

You need to add a crush/spring/peel washer to fill the gap and time the device.

Never seen one with a gap like that.  Take advice from the two above posts.

Is that a 7-1/2" barrel?

If its a linear comp it directs the gas forward unlike an A2 flash hider etc that must be timed. So a crush washer isn't required.  Now a peel washer or even just a plain old hardware store washer that fits and takes up the gap probably isn't a bad idea.

Yes, it's for a pistol build.

There is something wrong with either the barrel's or the KVP's threads.  My KVP's thread all the way on with no issues...

Well, since your barrel threads do not go all the way to the shoulder, you're going to have a gap.  I would go ahead and get a washer, and since the comp doesn't need to be indexed, you can use any type you want...
