Comparing the close-up picture in this auction http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=196986080 to the "how to spot a fake" tutorial here: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=507122 it looks to me like it's a fake. The Texas outline in the auction and in the fake both seem similar, and neither match the real mount. Is it a fake or has Larue had more than one logo?

All four screws entering from the same side is a dead giveaway.  I say fake.

I contacted the seller.

Please do not sell chinese made copies of real American products. You hurt the American company and all of it's employees, the buyer who thinks he is getting the real thing then hates the American company when it fails and yourself.

Anyone that knows LaRue products can tell that's a FAKE from a mile away. LaRue sells great mounts, please don't harm them by ripping off people with this junk.

At the very least say it's a fake and don't title the auction with "LaRue Tactical" as it were real.

I have a feeling a lot of "LaRue" stuff isn't real.

I only trust stuff straight from LaRue or the authorized retailers.

A lot of people get screwed on GB or ebay or anywhere else where people say they are selling real stuff.

I had a few ideas that would help Larue customers identify real mounts but Larue never responded to me...

Unfortunately many people have the intentions of buying the real thing and are scammed.

Here's the deal.
When we describe the "differences" publicly, the Chicoms quickly fix their designs, and release a newer model. Every evolution gets closer and closer in appearance to ours...we don't want to help them.

There's nothing that Americans people can invent that the Chinese other people can't copy. Despicable.

Fixed if for ya.

It's not the fact that they are Chinese per se that this is happening, it's the blind eye toward intellectual property rights (which is made more difficult between nations) taken by Chinese authorities. I'm not defending Chinese practices, but I am loathe to turn a blind eye to the same sort of divisive statements that is plaguing our current socio-political environment.

Okay, off my soapbox. I wish there was a way to stop the importation of such products, but enforcement would probably be difficult and costly.
