I want to put this

on to this

Is it possible? And how? This little 16" rig is kind of cumbersome, and I want a carry handle that can work with the optics mounted. I am currently putting together a 24" Bull barreled rifle that will surely be heavier than this one. I'm open to suggestions.

Some kind of mount that attaches to the picatinny rail section in front of the forward scope mount. Instead of a verticle orientation it would extent to the left side and have a stud to mount your handle to.

I'm not aware of anyone who sells such an item though.

That's kind of like the set up I was thinking about. Almost like a FAL's mounting of this handle. Maybe something kind of loose that can fall to the side when the weapon is in use, and be grabbed up in a second to pick it up and move.

Where's Mark LaRue and his team of machinists when you need him?

This might be a possibility.

Mount the whole thing to your upper receiver under your scope.

I like QUIB's idea, think it may work.  NOT just sucking up because he is a new mod.

Seriously though I think you have 2 challenges.

#1 Find a way to mount

#2 Have that way line up with a spot that balances reasonably well

Have you ever tried to get your fingers through a detachable carrying handle on the M-4's?  You got to be  little wirey fella to accomplish this.

I think the rail mounted carrying handle is a very marketable idea.  It might be as big as the M4 feed ramp cuts.

I'm waiting for it.   h.gif

the reason I want to do this is so I can leave the optics mounted when I move it.

Quib's idea with those parts is a good one, with one exception. When the handle is up, it would be perpendicular to the rifle, instead of parallel.

Not a bad idea, and a good first post!

Welcome to ARFCOM Dan!

I agree, QUIB. This idea Dan has may just work!

I saw the exact thing I need attached to a Barrett M82. Now if I can just find one separated from the rifle. So I can buy it.

Another alternative:

Remove the flashlight holder and just use the base.  Who knows, you might even be able to talk YHM into just selling you the base.

DSA lists 2 different FAL carry handles, $15 for either.
