I know a lot of this stuff does not help with weight savings.

KAC RAS
Grip Pod
XTM Panels
Aimpoint PRO
MI BUIS
20 round USGI mag loaded

Whopping 8.7lbs

She's festively plump. A little chubby with fabulous lips like Monica Lewinsky.

Call her a pig when she's twice what my light weight weighs. (about 5.5lbs.)

BTW 8.78 rounds to 8.8 not 8.7

Yes when they get 10 lbs even a loaded pig can be no fun. Thats probably a good weight .

That's not bad, I consider that still a lightweight setup, for me anything over 12 lb are heavy.

Wait until you mount a weaponlight and sling on there and that will get a little heavier.

Probably remove your Grip Pod and replace it with a lighter weight short VFG.

For your information, she wheighs 8.8 Lbs, NOT 8.7 Lbs

And no, she is "meaty" but not a pig.

my 14.5" BM weighs in at 8.4lbs (30 round, eotech, DD 7in omega, standard 6 position) , and my 20" BM weighs in at 11.4 lbs (20 round, bushnell 3200, burris ff2, DD 12 in omega, bipod).

the weight of my 14.5" surprises me, i know it could be even lower, but i didnt necessarily pick components because they were lightweight.... tho i don know there are lighter rifles out there.

but it was probably even lighter straight out of the box :)

Thats really not bad considering a bare bones no rail 16" carbine with aimpoint  will come in around 7lb 6oz  UNLOADED

What does a mil issued m4 weigh with all the issued gear minus a m203 of course

That carbine outweighs my Colt 20'' A2, my Garand, my 870 police, and my 22 match rifle. It weighs about as much as my NRA high power competition AR15.

It's getting there. I'd take a look at a lighter aimpoint mount, magpul rvg, and keep an eye out for a steal on a DD Omega. My Recce is only 8.5lb

Do you have any rounds in the magazine? Just curious, because that adds a lot of weight.

Not bad, but you could just ditch the RAS & VFG, and put some M4 handguards on there instead.

Lighter VFG, LW barrel, Aimpoint H1/T1, KAC rails are not particularly heavy so unlikely you'd save much weight there.

I really don't think that 8.7lbs is that far out of line for a carbine with RDS on it though.  I think most are between 8-9lbs in that configuration.
