Is a 1/9 twist actually really 1/8 and half?

I have never heard that before and I really doubt it.

A 1 in 9" twist is a 1 in 9" twist. But, it always pays to measure it yourself to make sure. All that is needed is a cleaning rod, some masking tape and a tape measure. There are some 1 in 8.5" twists out there, I have seen a couple but they were marked as such.

some barrelmakers 1/9, or 1/8 twist barrels may be a bit off, this is common

If you assume that 1/9 really means "somewhere between 1/8 and 1/10" then you won't be suprised by whatever it may actually be.
