I've been kicking this around for a little while.  With the price of ammo at $130 for 1000+ rounds, it seems like it would only take a couple of cases to pay for itself.I can't even reload .223/5.56 for that price re-using brass and purchasing the cheapest bullets I can find.  I'm not concerned about the corrosive primers because I will clean it afterwards, and this will only be a blasting gun.

The only thing different between the 5.45 and the 5.56 is the barrel, bolt, and mags.  I've read that 6.8 bolts can be used, but it's not a perfect match.  What are your thoughts?

BTW, what is the cheapest price for a barrel for this?  I'd be looking for a 16", preferably mid-length, but if the price is right, CAR is fine too.

Sweet!  That would be about what I would be looking for.

I am debating going this route for an SBR or buying one of Spike's complete uppers with a 8.25" barrel. I would like a little longer barrel around 11-12.5".
