Troy, So I'm new guy here, low post count, I'll walk point and ask : since this comes up often and the reply is always - FNMI makes no uppers for civilian market - is this the definitive answer from FNMI's supplier for the uppers? In other words, unless FNMI makes their own proprietary uppers, is it not possible their vendor forge produces legitimate high quality but unmarked, therefore not official FNMI, uppers for the civilian market and sells them to suppliers as do the other forges that supply multiple AR makers? Thanks.

Usually parts advertised as made by FN really means: "I have no F'N idea who made them."

There's a few quotes I have read over the years that I have always remembered. The FN quote is one of them! Hahaha!

Troy, Thanks for the very concise answer. There's some pretty standup people on both sides of this issue though. Has FNMI ever *officially* weighed in on it?

I remember just smiling and nodding when some gunshop guru was going on an on about how FN parts were great, you should only use FN parts, etc.

Troy, This is quite a place. Thanks once more.

As an interesting aside, defense contractors frequently swap parts with other defense contractors if they need to make up govt orders in short time. There are a vast number of military products out there containing components made by the "competition"!

I'm sorry, but JT's posts on this matter are pure poppycock. So far as I know, FN MAKES IT'S OWN UPPERS, and they don't build the M4. Now it's perfectly possible that the same FOUNDRY that produces A2 upper blanks for FN also produced the M4 upper blanks that are being advertised, but that DOES NOT make them FN uppers. They may be perfectly good uppers, and I suspect that they are, but false advertising is false advertising, and I don't care what BS you use to try to explain it. [;D]

My apologies for not giving proper acknowledgement to the true source. I wasn't sure where I read it first but the opportunity was too good to pass up. I suppose many plagerists use that excuse though.
