Which would you buy if they were within a 100.00 of each other?

1) Colt

2)Busmaster

3) RRA

4)OA

5)Other

Why?

Colt

because they have the least problems IMO

I would buy one of each, then give a range report.

My first two AR's have been "Other"  but if I was to buy a pre-assembled rifle, I'd probably go in this order:

1) RRA
2) Bushmaster
3) OA
4) Colt

I think RRA probably makes a slightly better product than Bushmaster, and Bushmaster slightly better than OA.  All that is strictly based on the relative number of complaints I see around here (adjusted for the approximate sales figures I've seen here)  I would disqualify Colt just based on crappy corporate politics, and because I want a standard pin size lower, flash supressor, bayonet lug and no sear block buggering up my lower.  I can't get those features in a Colt w/o gray marketing it and if I'm going to have to worry about not getting waranty service and support and dealing with the hassle of having to have an FFL order through a dealer willing to circumvent Colt's rules rather than buying off-the-shelf I would rather build myself.  So make mine "not Colt", because I have a choice.  Colt will get my consideration when my LGS can order me the rifle I want from them.

I don't get the question

What does within $100 of one another mean?   Without telling me the price, how can I answer.  I certainly wouldn't pay $100 more for a Colt over a BM or RRA, if that's what the question is.

I'd suppose I'd pay a slight premium for Colt, Bushmaster or RRA over Olympic - but not necessarily a lot.

(Assuming that the rifles are identical, meaning all chrome bored, etc.)

Try moving to civilization.  Gun shops and gun shows in my area stock Colt's with evil features.  They're really no harder to get than anything else.  To be honest, I have yet to hear of Colt enforcing their policy anyway.

If sear blocks get your goat, wipe every AR brand but Bushmaster off your list.  They all have blocks and why would large fire control pins bother you, but not non-milspec receiver extensions?

Colt, resale value would be worth it easy.

Yep.

Factory AR?

Colt.

In fact, Colt LE series, as these define the death of the AWB, and are the standard by which the others are measured

[voice over rim of Kool-Aid glass] Without question Colt [/voice over rim of Kool-Aid glass]

As for the rest of your list, I would take an "other" over any of the others, depending on how it was built (ie receiver, parts, barrel, etc)

I would get a Bushmaster over a RRA in the same config. if the price was exactly the same. I tend to believe that Bushmaster's QC is slightly (very slightly) better than RRA. Having said that, any significant price fluctuation would push me to RRA.

As for “OA”, presuming you mean Olympic Arms, I wouldn’t put them on that list. A dealer would just about have to give away an Olympic for me to buy one. I’d buy a DPMS looooong before I bought an Olympic. Olympic does have a cool logo though, reminds me of Lowenbrau.

Well, ever since CMMG started production of their rifles, that's what I'd go with. While new on the market, there is no doubt that their rifles are top notch, and that they guys there will stand behind their product.

Chrome lined, good finish, etc. I don't clean my guns. Well, not much anyway. And my CMMG chrome lined M4 upper still shoots better than I do.

They are right up there, ABC-R, you cant go wrong. Armalites tend to get a bit pricey. If you could find one within $100 of the others, I would take over any of the others............except the Colt.

I would have to admit, if there where 7 different rifles on the table in front of me from differing companies, all at the same price, I would buy the Armalite, only because I dont own one.............Yet!

I'd buy a Colt because I already have a RRA and just want to know what one was like.  It would have to come from the LE side of the factory though.

Only one will be marked "AR15"  That's the one with "collector value."

How do dpms and olympic compare?  The olympic stock looked kinda cheap compared to dpms.  Well, I ended up getting the dpms anyway.  They didn't have a bushy I really liked.
