I was asked this question today by a friend who is thinking of doing just that..........what say ye?

Hell no. Sell the Ar's and buy more Ak's

[#2]
Depends on what type of AK you friend is going to sell.

He has all 3 calibers, and wants more AR-15's.........I told him to hold what he has

Depends,I have an AK in .223 and its not going anywhere. So it depends on caliber of AK if they are all 7.62x39 then yes..all .223s no.I like things uniform and besides AKs are cheap hand outs for other family members.

Id sell all the AKs and buy ARs.

IMO I'd only want 2 AKs a underfolder and a normal. Just me though.

If it is a more common AK I would sell it, but if it something rare that is going to appreciate I would hold off.  But on a purely AK vs AR I would sell the AK for the AR in fact I did sell one of my AKs in order to fund my M4 purchase.

My experience is if i don't have the money, i don't need it.  Every gun I have sold, I have regreted.  Patience is the key here.  Save up money, the only thing to lose then is a little time, and not enough to matter...  then there will be one more rifle to throw that neigbor when your getting overrun by zombies!

Depending on what make they are, I'd say sell all of them add a few thousand dollars and get an M16

Ditto. But I like AR's better, but then I've never had an AK...

I just got rid of three AMD kits and two 74 kits to buy more ARs.    I still have a few AKs and a Krink but as soon as the price drops on piston AR uppers I doubt I'll buy another AK unless it's a hell of a deal.

I don't know what I would do in that situation because I'm not in that situation. Hope that helps.

I'd sell the three AK's and put the money toward a M-16.

If I had 3 Ak's and 3 AR's, I would sell the AK's and buy a M1A.

Never sell any gun.  Only buy guns.

If you need money, get a better job.

I sold my two Saiga AK conversions to gain partial funding for my two preban eagle arms carbines. So far, same reliability, but now I can hit something I am glad I made the switch, however, if I see a deal on a nice AK underfolder, I'll grab it. So yes I would sell an AK if I really wanted a particular AR.

Absolutly agree. I sold a couple of 1919a4 and wish I never did. Now I am trying to scrap the money together to build ONE. The point is a new guy looks good when you get it but don't sell other guys to get. You will always want it back. Even if it is a cheap AK.

Disagree...if I had not sold some in the past, I would have never amassed the collection of AR's I have now...

I sold a Colt Gov't Carbine with a M4 upper to a guy in '99 for $2200....I used that to buy other AR's...

I'm where I want to be in my collection, I have all but stopped buying guns..
