I know that there needs to be somekind of progress in weapons development, but is this progress? Lets hear some opinions.

+1
There are some good videos posted on the net showing testing with this rifle. It's pretty cool.

I don't know. I think it has a cool "Star Trek: The Next Generation" look to it.

They should make them in yellow and label 'em DeWalt on the side.

I'd buy one... that is if they'd ever sell them to civilians.

In 1965 what do you think a M-16 looked like to those of us brought up on blued metal, parkerizing, and wood?

i'd love to try one out

looks a little too integral for my taste. it looks like the whole thing is one piece and you couldn't put a different grip or stock or scope or detach the carry handle. really not what i like, but i still wanna shoot it

I just read that article on "fixing the m-16" and I think it's about time .....40+ years ! or at least a better caliber. 7.62x51mm!

"you can tell it's Mattel" was the slogan used by uor troops in the 60's to describe the M-16 . Now it just seems funny when the military is deciding on a replacment for the '16 a lot of '16 fans think anything else looks like a toy.....I am not trying to start anyhting here on arfcom but just look at my login name and you can tell where my heart and mind is on this matter.

just my $.02

btw I hate the thought of these new "EBR M-14's" short barrels and everything but the kitchen sink on them.

In '67 I thought the 16 was the most beautiful rifle in the world with the M14 second. Now, I believe the M14 is the most beautiful rifle............but, I would pick up an AR-10A4 first by a country mile.

Dave S

got one of these for xmas in '67:

I saw the performance on American Rifleman on th XM8 and it looked to be a low recoil, low mantainence, high performance weapon. Only time will tell.
