It's very wrong... but it feels so right!

Madness takes its toll.  Please have exact change.

It ends when you realize they are pretty much all the same and it gets to be a waste of money.

They are not the same!!!!!!!!!

I do not see a problem here.

The problem is... how large of a gun safe should the second/third one be?

I've only got four-and-a-half ARs right now (four complete, one lower) and I'd like to have twice that many. At one time I thought that I'd just get one complete lower and a couple of different uppers instead of buying a whole new rifle every time. Well, it doesn't work that way. The parts just have to even out, you can't have an upper just sitting alone in a closet. Harmony in the world doesn't exist until an upper is mated to a lower.

I started with an M4gery and told myself that I will accessorize it and be done. About 3/4 of the way through outfitting the M4gery, I decided I needed an M16A4gery.

Now, I'm finishing setting them both up and have begun to ponder an A1. It really needs to stop before it starts to get out of hand.

I'm with you though....I'm always pondering the next ammo purchase or next scope purchase etc.

Guys, I have found a way to put the disease into a kind of remission. It only works if you have one or two ARs already though.

It's called training.

This is the new beast that must be fed. I can't get enough. It's like I woke up one day during a combative pistol class and realized that what I thought was up, was really down. Then I was doing shooting on the move in a carbine class and I could literally feel the planets align. There was peace and harmony in the universe.

My only desire is to keep my ARs running, and to maintain sufficient ammo to continue my training schedule. Things like good lube took on new signifigance. Cool guy gear was falling to the wayside like chaff from wheat.

Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night screaming "Frontsight, Press, Follow up!". I am haunted by the buzzing of the timer. My thumbs have grown swollen and look like they would belong to a Gorilla from constantly stuffing a few more rounds into mags that never seem to stay full.

I've only got one AR. I did just buy a second upper (hasn't arrived yet), dedicated .22LR, so I can shoot greater volumes for less money.

I doubt I'll be buying another one, at least any time in the foreseeable future. Modifications, yes; I'm thinking about the Magpul UBR stock when it comes out. But no new rifles or other significant parts.

what you should do is shift your funding to the ammo side for  a while.  You gota have it.

Im an A2 addict but got sick of 2 carbines of mine completely the same so after hearing about PK firearms im browsing the site...what happens next I order a CMT flat top upper...2 days later the removable handle. The great thing was I sold off my 13 year old but in excellent shape A2 upper and a used furniture set for my carbine wich was a converted non colapsable type 2 Bushmaster stock,M4 handguards and pistol grip for $160..and the new stuff cost me $40 out of pocket.

Now Im thinking of rebarreling the A2 HBAR carbine to a superlight that will give me a spare barrel for my main carbine and Ill have the full carbine spectrum of barrels anyway..A14.5/phantom HBAR 1/9 a 14.5/phantom M4 profile 1/7,a superlight  1/9 ad a soccom 14.5/phantom 1/7 CMMG made..thats in A2 configuration and already Im thinking flat top with M4 feedramps and have a up to date Govt carbine clone.I swear if I had the money id have a semi-auto clone of every variant for a collection...then there would be my shooters that would be my utility rifles...so many wants and so little cash

I just pulled the trigger on a new stripped RRA lower. It should be here soon then the paperwork for the SBR begins.

While I am cobbling parts for that, I have picked out three new MGM Steel pepper poppers. Once you have a place/targets to setup tactical courses of fire, ammo goes quick. I realized I am not getting to the range enough, so I am going to bring the range to me.

my problem is that I do want another AR but I just keep buying thngs/upgrades for my current one that I have had a little over 3 years.  I just bought an OTAL and I definetly didn't need it and I could have bought a uppper for what the OTAL cost.  I could probably have 3 AR's with upgrades for the amount I have spent on just one.

I think I'm just about done except for a few small things so maybe I will finally build my 2nd one soon.

if you have to have a disease BRD is definetly the best one

But if I wasn't buying guns, which hold their value pretty well, I'd just be blowing it on 4 wheelers, computers, boats, and RC stuff.  NONE of which hold their value.

I only got into guns 5 years ago, at the height of the ban so I was paying more than I should have needed to for stuff that I didn't have yet.  So after the ban ended, I figured we had about 3-7 years to get everything needed for a lifetime.  We are now in year 2.

Remember, an M16 was < $1000 in 1986.  20 years later they are $13,000.  I wonder what an outright ban on mags and semi-autos would make them worth in 20 years?
Link Posted: 10/30/2006 6:54:34 PM EDT
[#31]
Would make them worth nothing because an outright ban would mean the end of freedom and the bill of rights and constitution...so they would be worth what a patriot who needs to use a weapon against tyranny is worth...way more than what money can pay for.
