My LGS has a 6951 9mm I'm looking at. Can I easily remove the front sight?

I would like to end up with a rifle length rubber coated or plastic handguard for my long arms and for cold weather. Also looking for a longer sight radius. I am a tool user, but have no experience with ARs.

I guess I'm looking at the Colt because it's there and it's a proven design, but I also like the look of the Stag 9T. It has all the features I'm looking for, but there are few reviews for it. It uses the same basic design, so hopefully just as reliable?

Proven Colt or Stag with the features I want?

Any input for an AR rookie would be appreciated

I think the Stag would be just fine, Colt will probably have better resale though.

Colt is THE standard for reliability in 9mm AR's.
Knock out the two taper pins holding the front sight base in place, and then remove the delta ring and spring assembly.
Using the standard barrel nut add either a Samson Evolution or AP custom handguard.

Check barrel nut tightness while you're in there. No gas tube to worry about lining up, just give it a good "umpf."
