I will be using this as an all purpose target shooting setup from 5-100 m for my Colt M4. I like the triangle because of the quick sight acquisition. What are the main uses for and differences of the triangle and the chevron? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
bd

I would suggest the triangle over the chevron. It has the precise tip, and a more pronounced body for close-in work. You can look through the chevron, but I don't really see how that's an advantage.

Thanks, I think I'm heading towards the triangle for that very reason. Just needed some insight.

I really like the triangle for some reason...YMMV

Keep in mind the F model is calibrated for a flat top height over bore . Hence it comes
with the flat top. This is what a Trijicon rep told me. I personally would not mount the F on a carry handle.

the TA31F (Chevron) is calibrated so the middle of the reticle is zero at 200 and the bottom is zero at 300 meters. for that reason, at those ranges, it helps to be able to see "thru" the reticle. if you're talking about using it from 5-100m, it won't matter.
i love my F but wouldn't put either on a gun that was going to be for under 100m shooting. you might consider one of the compact ACOGs also....

I think the current method of deciding TA31X reticles goes like this:

"Do you have any TA31s in stock? None at all? Do you know when you'll get some? Wow...thanks anyway" - Repeat over and over until...

"Do you have any TA31s in stock? I'll take it. here is my CC #. What reticle is that by the way?"

Damn... You solved the mystery of the TA-31X debate!

I would say go with whatever one you can get!

The T31F is set up for a M4 but they all should be close out to 400 yards. The TA31 Donut is the most popular.
