PPE
I had an old charcoal mask from my hazmat days. Use more then a paper mask with K-phos(disposable 3M for auto paint), this is nasty stuff. Make sure your area is ventilated. This is not a basement project.
I used an old helmet for blasting, The media will mess you up if your not covered.

This is how I did it and it seemed to work out well. Hope this helps anybody out, This was EASY in my opinion as a product to use. I have expierence spraying however.

This is the media used to blast the parts, blasting is not to remove paint but to rough up suface for adhesion. I used brake parts cleaner(NON CLORINATED!!) before blasting to remove oils so I dont spread them around while blasting.

After blasting I cleaned the parts again by blowing off with blow gun and spraying with brake clean. KG reccomends thir G3 cleaner but Midwayusa was out so I just used NON-Clorinated brake cleaner as it leaves no residue as well. There seemed to be no problems with reactions. This is where I started handeling all parts with nitrile gloves, this way no oils from my fingers would contaminate parts.

Now its time to spray on K-Phos. This is what I would call and acid etching of sorts, somthing simialar we do with a pressure washer powdercoating parts, we use a reduced acid on the metal for an etching effect. K-Phos can be sprayed on cold parts. Lets stand 10-15 minutes before warming for the color application. You do not need to use a whole lot of this!!! A light misting is all it needs.

Now preheat parts in oven, the target temp is 120 *F. I put my oven on warm. Before I hung my parts to spray I turned the heat to 325*F for the curing bake.

I held parts so I could turn them while spraying, the wire helps with hanging them when im done and for the oven cure, LESS IS MORE HERE!! I went to heavy with my gun settings at first, This stuff does run. I looks much better when applied thinner, IF YOU MESS UP NOW IS THE TIME TO FIX BY SPRAYING PARTS OFF WITH BRAKE CLEAN OR LAQUER THINNER AND STARTING OVER. AFTER BAKING YOU CANNOT DO THIS!!!!!!!!

Now Bake your parts for ONE HOUR in your oven at 325*F
KG claims you can bake longer and hotter for even a more durable finish, however they do say this will change your color. I just did the 1 hr.

Let your parts cool and assemble!!

Hope this helped anyone and pm me for questions.

Looks good.

Very similar to cerakote application. Did you spray the inside of the upper receiver?
