Title says it all....I want to color in the icons for fire select (safety, fire, auto) as well as the manufacturer's marks/serial number......

What has everyone used to do this and what are the steps involved in doing this?

I would post my pics but they are on the other computer upstairs...

Theres a write up somewhere on here but i cleaned my engraving very very good with some SEM solve (any paint prep solvent will work you just want to pull all the dirt/grease/oil out)

I used Enamel Model paint and a tooth pick to paint mine. Just dip the tip of the toothpick into the paint  and then dab into the engraving of what ever you want to paint.

I think ive read up on people using crayons and a little bit of heat. just do a search and youll find quite a bit.

Hope i helped you some.

I was thinking of adding a yellow to black fade on the lower receiver.

Cleaned everything with rubbing alcohol.  After the coloring was done, ran a hair dryer over it to help the color settle into the markings.  Wiped everything down with a silicone cloth, applied rem-oil with a clean towel and dried off.

One thing I did use instead of a razor to help in the clean and also it helped in pushing the wax into the crevice was a wooden finger nail scraper.  Dipped it into the alcohol and just moved it around.  worked great!  Didnt leave a mark on the finish at all.

Total amount spent...  $.75 for the crayons.
