Can you use a kit like this to do this?

http://www.caswellplating.com/kits/black.htm

Is it safe for theinside of the barrel? It says it takes just 2 minutes. Do I need to block of the inside of the barrel with something?

Thanks.

Don't get anything on the inside (bore) of the barrel.  Bluing, like Parkerizing, is a controlled rusting that etches the top layer of steel.  This means the chemical will create more friction on the bores surface, which leads to increased friction and fouling.

Arizona Response Systems used to Blacken SS, but I cannot find it on their site anymore.

Then, there is always Black-T.  I have had my AR-10's 20rd mags done in it..........BEAUTIFUL, will never rust, but da-da-damn, I didn't ever think about sweaty, muddy, or blood covered hands having to handle them.............ooooops.  Maybe I can have the guys at Line-X put a 2" band about 1/4" up from the bottom the next time that they are doing someone's bed.

Thanks guys, I was hoping someone had done it themselves.
