Anybody know approximately how much 1K of 5.56 (say 62 gr M855) weighs?

20-30lbs give or take.

1k of 55gr M193 is about 27lbs according to UPS, so obviously, 1k of 62gr M855 would be a little more.

I was about to post that my memory put those 26-27lb weights to be for a case of 500 but I ran up to the Ammo storage area
and tossed two 500 rd boxes of XM193 (55gr) on a bathroom scale and proved I was once again............Wrong

The first gentelman are right on. Assuming that the only difference with the 62gr is a 7gr heavier bullet 1000 rounds could be 1 lb heavier
but the powder charge is likely a bit lighter so the difference could be less.

Lots of bang for that 27 lbs!

What would 1000 rounds of 308 run? Seems like is would be 2 to 3 times as much.

1200 rounds of IMI M193 is 33 lbs according to UPS, so 27.5 lbs per 1000.
