I am going to buy either Q3131A or South African battlepacks.  Anyone have problems w/ SA?  Thanks

They're both M193-spec, with the edge in accuracy going to Q3131A. The SA stuff is usually cheaper, but it's been impossible to find. Sportsman's Guide had some just recently in preorder, but even the preorders are already sold out. If you can find some for cheap, more power to you. Otherwise, find Q3131A on sale for ~ $160-170/1000.

Q3131a is newly manufactured ammo.  The Soutf African ammo can be as much as 25 years old or older.  They both usually shoot fine, but if you wan consistant and accurate ammo, go with the newly manufactured stuff. If you want some plinking ammo, then the battle packs are just fine.

In my experiance Q3131A is significantly more accurate than M1A3.

I use both though. M1A3 for plinking & Q3131A for training.

M1A3 (unlike wolf) performs close enought to M193 spec, that my plinking doesnt become a detrement to my training.

Yep, the only advantages that go to the SA is it's lower price (when it was readily available that is) and less muzzle flash than Q3131A. But the SA is 20 years old. Just think, if this is longterm storage ammo, in 10 more years it will be 30 years old while the fresh Q3131A you bought today will only be 10 years old. That's where the difference lies.

I would also go with the Q3131A from winchester.  The AR's all seem to love it.  Also I believe it's a little "hotter" than the SA stuff and of course newly manufactured

I found the SA and Q3131A to be equally accurate.
The SA has significantly less muzzle flash.
The SA I have is Berdan primed.
