I am going to be swapping the upper receiver on my Sporter lightweight with an M4 flat top. I will be using the Sporter barrel, bolt and carrier.

How important is it to check the headspace when I do this? Seems to me it should all just work, but what do I know.

I am just trying to avoid spending the money on or finding the headspace gauges to borrow.

TIA,

If you are using the same barrel and bolt, the headspace won't (can't) change. As long as it goes into battery, you are good to go.

That's what I thought but I had to check.

Thanks,

Matt

The lower is nothing more than a way of striking the firing pin in the upper's bolt.
