How hard is it to install ambi-selector?

How hard would it be for me to replace a standard selector with an ambi one? Would it require any special tools?

EZ. You need an allen wrench to intstall the wrong side of the selector.

+1 What mongo001 said.

I have a Stag Arms which is available now and could be bought from their website or seller Teknic sells them at the Equipment Exchange.

The Stag Arms included the allen wrench and the fastener on the wrong side of the selector is flush and doesn't protrude.

I don't prefer some other brands fastener that protrudes.

Call me crazy, but if God had built me backwards, I would pull the safety out of the proper side, and install it into the other side, and would not use an ambi-anything as I believe it is more stuff to hangup. Aside from that, it is free, and I am all about being cheap.

Use what you've got, most of the safetys are machined to work on either side. I think Colt is one of the few that doesn't do this.

You're correct, my Colt and LMT can't be flipped around because there's no detent groove at the left side of the selector.

Here's a reversible and adjustable selector from JP Enterprises, look at the picture at the bottom of the webpage.

Its their standard safety, which is similar to most others. Like I said, pull the old one out and drop it in the other side.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I didn't even know it was possible to have that kind of stuff dedicated to just a lefty. I'm used to other guns/pistols where lefty stuff is merely an afterthought. Alright, my mission is to make a dedicated lefty lower than to match my dedicated Stag lefty upper. I'll fight for persecuted lefties everywhere hug.gif!

I put one in my Dissy. Bushmaster sells it on their website

Far as I can tell it is the same as the one DPMS and others offer. I like the JP one. That way any righty that uses your rifle knows what we feel like

I'm working on making a totally lefty AR as much as possible.

I know Olympic makes a reversable and someone else makes one at twice the price. The thing is, I plan on buying the RRA lower parts kit and don't want to buy a part for one that's in the kit.

In our self defense pistol classes we practice non-dominant hand shooting and getting the safety off is a bugger. Went ambi on my HK Tac and my AR will shortly be the same too. For me, it just makes sense applying ambi pistol practices to the AR. (Probably need to practice shooting from the hip left handed with the AR too).
