I am going to purchase a 9mm conversion kit from Garrison Mfg. Inc. But I am a little nervous about running it on my registered lower M-16. I have installed KNS pins on the lower receiver to help reduce wear, but how much more wear should I expect from a 9mm conversion compared to a 5.56? I detail clean and inspect my guns after every time I shoot them but if I break a hammer pin I know that I can have my lower pin holes welded up and re-drilled but I would rather not have to go thought this headache if I can prevent it. I would appreciate anybodys experience with the 9mm conversion and any parts that they have broken Hammer pins, Trigger pins, Egged out holes, etc. Thanks

Use a heavy buffer, and get the bolt ramped. I use this set up on a Colt M16A1...no problems so far.

Thanks for the input. I will look into getting the bolt ramped. I may even try to do it myself. I plan on using the standard A2 stock. I will also look into different buffers.

If you use the A2 stock you will have no problems with the rifle buffer. I would suggest having M60- Joe or Lee Minor from LRM Firearms do the ramping. Lee did mine.

There are no different buffers for the rifle stock, just the plain 5.1oz buffer. You can do what I did, and dump the guts out of the A2 buffer, and replace them with a brass dowel, that'll get you to approx 7oz... I use it on my SBR because I use a suppressor(s) with 9mm and 223/556.

DON'T put a "CAR" style buffer in a "RIFLE" tube.

The rifle buffer is all you need. "ArmdCtzn" been M16 9mm for a few yr with A2 stock, and I been SBR for 6yr the same way.

I am having second thoughts about the 9mm conversion. I don’t know if I want to put my lower receiver at risk. Especially with my luck.
