I usually say "Vee-Ell-Tee-Oh-Are". Basically, I spell it out. My wife says Vil-Tor. What's the right way?

that makes some sense. for example, the roman word Maximvs is pronounced "Maximus". the 'v' has a 'u' pronunciation.
