Want to compare to see what mine should be doing. Please tell your average MOA (shot group diameter at 100 yards)is, what type of comp/brake you are using and type of ammo used to achieve it.

Please be honest!

thanks

I usually hold an average of 4" groups at 100yds. This is using my Bushmaster AK Shorty. The rifle really has a 14.5" barrel with the permanent brake. This is with almost all the ammo I have tried with the rifle, and while firing with open sights from the prone position.

I got 4" inch groups at 100 yds from my 16" today, benchrest, with both a 4X scope and open sights, using both Black Hills .223 and XM193, did not seem to make a difference.

I got 2" groups with my 20", so I was wondering if something was wrong, or just my shooting. Seems like I got better accuracy before I put the brake on. Maybe 4 MOA is not so bad for the 16"?

16" chromed lined RRA upper w/ A2 FS and mini ACOG 2x, amber triangle reticle.

Q3131A = 2" groups
XM193  = 3" groups
FGM 69 SMK = 2" groups
Hornady 75 BTHP Match = 1.75" groups

_DR,
I finally checked with ArmaLite management on this subject.  Per ArmaLite, there should be no accuracy difference with a muzzle brake.  (Obviously you can get back on target a little quicker with a brake.)

My carbine is a stock Bushmaster M4type with mini-Y comp. I can shoot 3 inch, 10 shot groups all day long at 100 meters in prone. (except one or two flyers) If I'm lucky, I sometimes get 2 inch or less groups. This carbine has no modifications except SIR and Aimpoint.

My stock Bushy rifle without any muzzle device usually shoots 2.5 inch groups at 100 meters, 10 shot group. (again, except a few flyers) However this rifle has proved that it can do 1 inch group at 100 meters and hold 2.5 MoA at 200 meters. This rifle has no modifications except 4x ACOG.

I shooting a Colt 6731 upper with a Kurt's Kustom Tak brake on a stinger lower with a NM trigger.

If I'm doing my job I can get 3/4 inch groups all day.

At the range last week I put up a 50 yard small bore target at 100 yds and put 60 rounds in the black of 2 circles, alternating shots, within a couple of minutes.

I was using Federal 193.

Thanks for your input guys. I need to go out again and see what it can do. I guess I cant blame the muzzle brake.
