One of the additional reasons folks run M4 feed ramped upper.....
  Your rifle probably looks like the left picture above, M4 feed ramped upper on the right, which tends to handle non-standard rounds better. Mike |

Ditto with wilson and to add,
Go through your mag colletion and see if you can find a mag that will feed the HP's a bit higher to prevent then from low feeding. If you have a SA 80 mag, they tend to be a bit higher in the feed lip section when locked into the well over standard USGI mag, and may solve the problem with the HP mags. Just short of M-4 feed ramps, and another mag that may work better for the HP's, there is always the match book in between the mag well and the mag to cant the front of the mag higher to allow a better feed angle out of it. |

I had problems with a build that would not feed HP's, and it was because the extension on my barrel was a regular extension, and the upper was an M4. It fed regular ammo just fine, but choked on the HP ammo. It took a bit of dremeling to get it right.
Any little bit of lip between the extension and the upper may cause problems with HP ammo even if it isn't readily discernible. That 45gr WWB stuff will find and grab any thing in the way. |
