I found this epoxy.  It says it withstands 1000 degrees.  That's pretty close to the 1100 degree melting point required for permanently attaching a FS.

You must have missed the part where it says Hi-Temp Lab Metal will not bond two parts.  I think bonding is the idea behind attatching an extension onto a short barrel
