I want to take my vert fore-grip off as I am not so sure I like the feel of shooting with one. But what I also want to do is where saving money comes into play. I want to mount my light at about the 10'oclock position on the handguard. I don't have money to spend right now as my wife and I are both out of work so I thought I would use the spare rails I have laying around. So how do I go about mounting the rail to the handguard at the 10 o'clock position. It is just a regular M4 size handguard so nothing special.

I agree, drill it and bolt it yourself.

So do I drill and bolt through the heat shield or just drill through the handguard and bolt under the heat shield?
