I need help identifying the manufacturer (if possible), coating and style of this AR bolt carrier group. It appears to have a hard chrome or boron coating and shows very little signs of wear/use. There are no identifying marks that I can find on either the bolt or the carrier. The person who originally owned it purchased new, shot a few mags through it to verify function and then put away as a replacement part. This person is no longer with us so I'm trying to verify what I can.
Thanks for any info!

It doesn't look like it's ver ygood quality, looks like alot of machining marks inide it, the bolt almost looks like is painted. Chinese knock-off perhaps? Where did you get it?

That kinda looks like the stainless FCG that I have. If it was C marked I would have said it's out of the old stainless SP1.

Thanks for all the info gentleman. It came from one of my fellow Lieutenants at the station. He thought it might be an Olympic Arms but didn't really know. Will the SP1 BCG function fine in place of a SA one for my M&P15? Might keep as a spare if so, otherwise might look to trade it for something else. Appreciate the info none the less.

I would take advantage of the market right now and sell it if I were in your shoes... It does not look bad or very used/abused at all and you could get a good price for it.

When things calm down you take the money you got from selling this and go buy a good FA bolt carrier group. You want a carrier that has not been all hacked up like the one you have here. You would be 'upgrading' at a later date for less money.

I worry less about the weight missing from the back of the carrier as I do the unshrouded firing pin. That mess just bothers me!

The stakings on the gas key are very unusual; just one staking on the inside of each screw instead of two on the outsides of each. This might be a clue to the manufacturer.

It's complete junk, worth maybe $10. That said, I'll give you $20 for it

I think you may be right on the gas key staking being a clue to who the manufacturer is. While doing some searching I came across a thread from this very site that shows an old SP1 that has the exact same dimpled gas key staking seen on mine. Not sure how I ping the gent who started that thread as he seems knowledgeable on the subject.
Here's a link to it with pics!

Not really, that was the traditional way to stake until the recent past.  Would be typical for a BC from the era of undercut/unshrouded firing pins.

Pics are in the mil manuals showing that staking for gas key replacement.

Based on the type of BCG and the staking does that give you any idea of how old it might be? Thanks for the info.

Listed as field staking.  This is old, but you get the idea.  Three points of contact are desired though.
DPMS sold similar chromed units.
