I've got problems fellas. Changing my fixed bushy stock to a stag. Everything is going fine but the spring that holds the locking plate in front of the castle nut is fubar. I have pics, but don't know how to get them up. Found the spring, trimmed off the screwed up part and installed with no problems - Ran to the range really quick and dumped off 90 rounds. Function is 100%. Thanks to all who helped in previous thread. Thanks to JKiser for the stock. Couldn't have done it without the help in this board

BTW: Anyone want this old fixed stock? Not sure who could use it, but I'll trade it for a cheap knife, a couple of mags, a decent sling, or pretty much anything. I just want to get rid of it.

You have to be careful guiding it in or it can kink.  I'd put a new one in.  Be very slow and deliberate when you push the retainer plate down and that should take care of it.

Where do I get a new one? And how would this affect function?

That spring puts tension on the rear push pin.  You can try to use that one and if it keeps an acceptable amount of tension on the pin you're good.  If not DPMS has them in a kit with all the little springs, they're around $15 and it's a good thing to have in the tool kit.

UPDATEL: The spring is gone. It shot across the room. Any chance of finding one similiar size at a hardware store?

Edited for horrible english

I'm sorry, but as someone who just put a telestock on recently this is kind of funny.

It happens.  I'd check the gun shop first, or maybe someone here knows the specs and could help you on which one to buy at a hardware store.  I try to get the one made for it.

I almost lost the one under the buffer retaining pin.  It launched out with a lot of force and sent the buffer retaining pin flying too.

If you have a good magnet that might give you a crack at finding it...

And what happens if I don't use one??

The rear take-down pin will not stay in.  Depending on how snug it is based on the holes in the upper and lower it might just fall right out or it might kin of stay in there.  I don't think you want to do this.

Go back to your first post, EDIT and you can change it there.

Congratulations and have fun at the range.

Lower Receiver Parts link

Your missing spring is part #110. It's 50 cents.

Order a few. They tend to launch themselves into oblivion.

On your photobucket page that shows the photos, there's 3 copyable links underneath each photo. Copy the third one, and just paste it in your reply window. don't even need to click on the image icon below it since it's already pre-formatted.
