While disassembling an upper I have run into a problem rather early. Allready did a thirty day search, and come up with nothing. I have the handguards off, b/bc/ch out, and the gasstube pin out of the fsb. I have pulled tugged and tried to remove the gasstube with tape wrapped pliers and a mallet. The damn thing won't budge! Anyone have any ideas/ advice? It would be greatly appreciated. h,

Try to twist the gas tube in the FSB or gas block. This will more than likely break up depsosits that might be in there. Also use a good penetrating oil like Kroil.

get a gas tube wrench. It makes your life significantly easier

If you have any, mix some Outer's Nitro Solvent with some Kroil penetrant ( 50/50 ) and soak the front and rear sections of the gas tube overnite, this will turn the deposits to a fairly fluid state and allow you to remove the gas tube with ease. It also helps to soak the barrel nut liberally with the same stuff. I hang the upper in my diswasher rack ( just pull the upper rack out a bit and let the upper sit in it, barrel down ) and brush the sutff all over the front sight band and all over the barrel nut.

Works like a charm.

Got it! I soaked it in solvent overnight, and it worked like a charm. I am definately going to get me one of those tube wrenches though. Thanks guys! Great suggestions.
