I’m currently shopping around for a new optic.
Looking for a red dot. Budget is not an issue.
I’ve narrowed my searches to now between the Aimpoint T2 & the Aimpoint Comp M5.

This will be applied to my main “go-to” rig.
Anyone with any experience with either of these optics that can share some feedback would be appreciated.

Hard to go wrong with either since they have the newest internals and lenses but the (possible) advantage you get with the Comp M5 is the ability to use a AAA battery, it's the first Aimpoint made of 7075-T6 aluminum opposed to 6061-T6 and there's a protective front window that's not on the T2.
The T2's main advantage is that it's slightly less expensive. Flip a coin and drive on IMO

I have had the Comp M4 and M4s and run some 9000L dots. I also have Trijicon Compact ACOG scopes  and a 1-4 Accupoint.  Out of all of these my preference is the Compact ACOG's the illumination is tritium and fiber optic so its always turned on. The glass is clear and brighter in dark conditions. The magnification helps.  3x is as much as you would want and 2x would be a better  choice. The 1.5x is also a fine choice.  I tend to prefer the red crosshair because the amber triangle on my 1.5x tends to wash out when looking toward street lights at night. A red triangle would also be a great choice working off the top point for precision.

This would be my pick using a La Rue RCO mount

I’m a T2 fan and would go that route for the looks alone.  Both the M5 and T2 are tough as nails, cost difference is negligible, and 5 years with a cr123 is a nice gig

I have a T2 and I like it but if I were buying today I’d probably get an M5 just because it’s supposed to be tougher and I like new stuff.

Can we get more M5 vs T2 pics in this thread?

I kinda faced the same situation as Op a while ago, wanted an Aimpoint but wanted to try all interested models. After handling some I bought the M5 and am still glad I did. It's on my goto stick.
